Baseball Nationals 2017 Accommodations

We are working with 7Elements Travel to book accommodations for the upcoming Baseball National Tournament in Myrtle Beach. The list has been split into three (3) groups:

  • Parents – These listings assume  10 adults in a shared home/condo (no theme rooms included…lol)
  • Group – These listings are for private resorts where both the parents and team can stay together.
  • Individual – Hotels/Condos in the area for individual bookings.

Our first preference is to have the team and parents all at the same hotel/condo/resort, but families and group are more than welcome to book individual accommodations.

Southside Strikers Place 3rd in Tune-up Tourney Before Disney.

Douglasville, GA

The Southside Strikers placed a disappointing 3rd in the “Beat the Heat Classic” tournament June 24-26. This was the final tournament before the Disney International Salute to Baseball tourney in Orlando Florida.

“We had a good week of practice and want to follow-up that up with a competitive tourney before hitting the road”, Coach Jones said. “We don’t want to look too far ahead because the teams in this tournament are very good.”

The “Beat the Heat Classic” featured the Atlanta Stars, West Cobb Tide, West Georgia Eagles, Central Park Bulldogs, and STEPPS’ own Southside Strikers.

Coach Jones continued, “we won this tourney last year, and I think it’s important for the team to learn to play with the bullseye on your back; we got everyone’s best game this weekend and came up a little short.”

On the bright side, the Strikers earned 9 points as they jockey for position in the GSA Georgia State rankings.

Union City 14U to hold Tryouts for their State Tournament All-Star Team

Union City is putting together a 14U All Star team to represent the area in the 2016 GRPA 14U State Baseball Tournament from July 12-16th in Augusta, GA. We are selecting a group of qualified student-athletes to be stewards for both STEPPS and the Union City community as a whole. The All Star season provides a “post season” experience at a higher level of competition not just for advanced skills, but sportsmanship, character, and a well-rounded ability to play the game of baseball.

UC Eagles Blue Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a 13-2 Victory over the PH Reds.

Ronald Bridges, Home of the Union City Eagles, was transformed into a full Cinco de Mayo party as the Eagles cruised to a 13-2 victory over the shorthanded Panhandle Reds.

The Eagles controlled the game from the first pitch as the game was started late due to field maintenance.

After a few wins in a row, Coach Jones was upbeat about his team. “This was a total team effort. We are hard to beat when we play focused and loose like this…this was a good win.”

Ronald Bridges celebrated Cinco de Mayo by providing food, concession, and music. Both teams participated in the post-game festivities and seemed to leave the competition on the field.
